Feature Story for March 2010 ~By Colin Partridge She was the most beautiful woman I had ever met, stunning would be the word to describe her. As I looked into her eyes I felt as if I was looking into her soul. I held her close and felt her gentle energy. I nuzzled her neck, put my face onto hers, there we stayed for at least a half hour neither one of us moving. We were both aware of each other’s presence and the others around us but for us the moment was peaceful and tranquil. Read more

Jimmy's Story
The morning traffic is moving slowly along Hwy #1 as I head out to see my horse. Relaxing into thought about the many years I have been doing this drive I once again feel the chills running through me. These chills are actually goose bumps and for me and this is a sign that some interesting and creative thoughts are coming my way. I first experienced this rush of energy when I would think back about the days Jimmy and I spent together learning healing techniques that would bring him back to good health. Ultimately these thoughts transended into the development of the most exciting endeavor of my life which was to create a natural healing and therapeutic business. We have come a long way. Today I continue to maintain my horse as I learned through all my studies and experience. Read more
Jacob's Journey, A Story Of Inspiration
By Linda Buchanan
Not only is this my horse's name but our experiences have been journey's themselves. This particular journey started in March when Jacob fell through a bridge up at Cultas Lake. His right hind canon bone, ligaments and tendons were crushed. The good news, he was able to bear weight quite well. Thus the journey began. Time is the true healer of all things and this can be a test on ones patience. I am a person who feels that I have to do something to help. I am fortunate to have a wonderful, respectful relationship with Jacob. Together we have over 600 endurance event miles together and have travelled 1000's more in the back country. Read more
Food For Thought ~ By Yvonne Allen
This past summer of 2007 I was sorting through an accumulation of “horse stuff” that I had been collecting for several years. Anyone that has ever owned a horse knows how tedious of a task this can be. I came across three bottles of a horse massage liniment that I had bought but had never used. I decided to take them out to the barn and use them up as there was no expiry on the bottles. Read more
By Walter Paetkau I was one of a number of thought leaders at a seminar in late September. We were asked to “Imagine Abbotsford”. This is an exercise being held in a number of B.C. communities led by Simon Fraser University and a local board. It is a three year process involving a variety of different citizens over a period of time to explore a vision of a healthy community and what it could look like 10, 20 or 30 years into the future. It shares the concept of how horses are still here to serve us, just when we were thinking we would never see these days again! Little 'Cherub' Alexa Renee Middelaer died surrounded by love. Suspected drunk driver behind wheel in Delta tragedy.
As a horse lover from the time I made my entry into this world, I can relate with the experience Alexa had with Horsey Love. Although It was far too soon for Alexa to leave her loved ones, I hope to offer as a condolence to her family and friends, that she gained much wisdom and compassion from the time she did spend with Horsey Love. Horses are amazing teachers, especially for us people today. Alexa and Horsey Love communicated in a way that may be difficult for many of us to understand, however there relationship was of shared simple truths and love, that was all very real. I know this as I am still blessed everyday to share the time I do with two of my own horses that have taught me so very much. On October 31st, 2006 a herd of horses was stranded by rising water levels on a small plot of land in the Netherlands after a heavy storm. As the days stretched on people feared for the lives of more than one hundred horses! This exciting rescue was led by four very brave and strong women!
Who would have thought that a casual weekend at a friend’s cabin would turn into the realization of how a relationship with an animal could be at its most profound and deepest level.
When I was young, instead of an imaginary friend, I had an imaginary horse. He stayed in our backyard amongst a small grove of apple trees. Every night I went out with a bucket of water, which he drank while I brushed him, stretching to reach his thick black mane. Those evenings were filled with a sense of connection and peacefulness. I wished they would never end.
Over the years I was able to spend time with other people’s horses (real ones). There were no happier times for me than when I was with these magnificent creatures. I longed for the day when the beautiful, tall black steed of my dreams would come to life. Read more
