The three horses whose lives we share with viewers of VFTH are
Angel,
Mischief and
Five Sails. Both Angel and Mischief were bred into what is called the PMU Industry
and were both rescued from
Premarin Farms in Manitoba back in 2007 (Angel) and 2008 (Mischief). We owe great credit to
Five Sails who passed over to the other side (horse heaven!) this past October, 2009. He was a wonderful teacher and mentor to many. He was rescued from the
Thoroughbred Racing Industry (Sport Of Kings) back in 1991 and was in our lives for 18 precious years. For both horse people and those that are not, we hope you enjoy and appreciate their stories that represent so many others out there, that were never given a real chance at life. Collectively, these three horses inspired the creation of this web site; to be the voice for the many other horses whose backgrounds they share, that have never been heard from.

For many of us we wonder how one might be able to
make a difference in a problem that is as huge as what our horses are experiencing today. We ourselves have felt overwhelmed to say the least, however in retrospect when we started to write the stories and gather our content for the web site, we realized that by inviting these horses into our lives, those that you will meet through the pages of VFTH, we know in our hearts that a difference has been made. Most certainly our three horses have been given the opportunity to live fulfilling lives but what has been even more powerful we found was how these three horses (yes, only three!) have made such an impact in our lives. The following story shares with you how by just helping one horse, be it
an Angel, Mischief or
Jimmy contributes to
making this powerful difference...
“An old man walked up a shore littered with thousands of starfish, beached and dying after a storm. A young man was picking them up and flinging them back into the ocean. “Why do you bother?” the old man scoffed. “You’re not saving enough to make a difference.” The young man picked up another starfish and sent it spinning back to the water. “Made a difference to that one, he said”.
VFTH is presently seeking new alliances so as to create a more powerful V
oice For Our Horses. We believe that we have found part of the solution to help create this positive change that is needed and invite you to read the article written for
