Kaylin
By: Madelyn McCoy
Based on a true story
Howdy, I am Kaylin. Right now I’m living in a great farm called “I Believe” and let me tell you how I got here. I was getting ready to go to a slaughter house when my lead broke. I had no idea what to do, so I ran. I ran until I was caught. After that I went back to the farm. By the way, the farm is called “Star Streak”, they didn’t have enough money to take care of me so they are sending me to a slaughter house.
I’m at an auction and I’m about to be called. Would anybody like a brown and white Paint? Nobody said they wanted me. As I was getting on the truck to go to the slaughter house it had to be a girl who yelled out that they wanted me. I was so excited that I whinnied!! But what I found out is that if they get me, I have to wait 4 weeks before I can go to the other farm.
I have to stay at a foster farm with 48 other horses and there is only 45 stalls. Me and 2 other horses had to stay outside. Finally, after 4 whole weeks, the girl came to pick me up. It was a very bumpy ride but, I thought that it was kind of fun. Just so you know after a while I found out what her name was. The girl’s name is Madelyn.
Now that I have told you about my story on how I got here, let me tell you about my life here. The first day was a little scary. There was so many horses in the field, it took a while for them to include me and warm up to me. The people here are so nice. They come to say good morning, hello, and goodnight to all the horses here. The best part is the treats. I like carrots, apples, pears, and they put applesauce in my food so it taste even better. Oh, and the kids, there are so many kids! I see kids everyday and they always give me a kiss. I just can’t get enough!!!
Right now I am working with a trainer so that Madelyn can ride me in the spring. Madelyn is very sweet. The other horses who have been here for a while just adore her. This one horse, Dugan, says that she is his favorite person!
The day I was brought to “I Believe” farm was the best day of my life! I can only hope that other horses can be rescued and have a home as great as this one. I feel like I am one of the luckiest horses alive!!
