To the Voice For The Horse Foundation,
A few months ago I was out for lunch with my 12 year old daughter. As I looked through the paper, I noticed a contest for children hosted by the Voice For The Horse Foundation. As I told Sara about this, she became excited and all the way home she discussed ideas for her story. When we arrived home, straight to work she went and did not re-appear for another four hours when she was called for dinner! The next few days Sara worked out ideas and would disappear to write once again.
I wanted to thank you for giving Sara an outlet and a place to write about her passion for horses.
How many times I have sat in parent/teacher conferences to hear about Sara’s lack of focus, her poor grade average and her inability to hand in paperwork without a picture of a horse drawn on the top of it. We would speak about her schoolwork and her homework and it had escalated into a very negative topic. Sara’s school felt she had ADHD.
This contest allowed Sara to be “who she is”. She was able to speak and have a voice in regards to her favorite subject; horses of course! Thank you for reaching out to Sara through this wild horse writing competition and showing her that she can do it and has what it takes to succeed in this world.
