I ask for those who take the time to read my vision of the Day in the Country for Kids Program to allow their minds to visualize what could be and also recognize what may not be if we do not take immediate action. In our vastly changing times there is very little we relate to which brings us back to our history, our heritage and who we are as mankind. Technology rules most of our lives; if it is not our cell phones, it is texting to video conferencing. Our days are consumed virtually, which is not all negative; however for many, the connection to life as it was even just 10 years ago has all but disappeared. This is particularly true of the horse - the beast of burden who physically paved our way to where we are today in society. We have reached a place where we no longer “need the horse” to sustain our lives.

My sincere thought today is if we do not focus on the future of horses in our lives today, in the years to come, many children will only read about horses in books and never be given the opportunity to be in their presence, unlike all previous generations of many to include our parents, if not our own selves, where it was a commonality in most of our lives.
It is my belief the horses are animals who re-invent themselves specifically to be in our lives. Through the trying times they have endured so far they still show up for one reason or another and it is here we might just ask why? The values horses bring into our lives today are immense; for example, working with children teaching them awareness, respect and positive boundary setting. What horses are teaching our bullies in society as well as the victim kids who are bullied today is VERY POWERFUL! The horse has become a guide and teacher for many.
So what if this program a Day in the Country for Kids encouraged both children and others exposed to our program, to reach their potential and deterred bullies while maintaining the self-esteem of those who have been bullied? What if we were able to experience more kindness in this world because children realize the horse to be a sentient animal? What would it be like if our youth who experience The Day in The Country For Kids came to fully realize they also are sentient beings who feel as do their peers? Can you see perhaps this may even encourage children to be kinder to each other and also gentler on their own sensitive self-esteems? Through implimenting such programs which teach specific virtues such as the Virtues Project we can make this happen! Those who are already working in this field of development will tell you the horse has many lessons to teach us in strong leadership. There has never been any other animal who has so blatantly shown us these truths.

To further elaborate on the vision of A Day in the Country For Kids and the other programs we have set in place such as our International Children's Writing Competitions, what if our writing projects encouraged children to pay attention to literacy in their writing. What if we found as already noted, the keen interest children have on subjects such as what we present at Voice For The Horse inspired more creative minds? What might the experience be for children who are fascinated with the horse however are only able to dream about them due to our lack of connection to the horse in our modern day world?
What if we went beyond this and incorporated programs on both personal and social development for kids such as public speaking (subject horses of course!)? Already in place we have an event where our youth are leading the way for kids and learning new skills in the field of personal development such as the case of VFTH Ambassadors Cole Armour and Tiffany Desrosiers hosting events such as our No Show Equine Celebrity Gala who have also both collaborated to write International Song for the Voice For The Horse Foundation which promotes fine arts and music.
Kids are passionate; they want to be creative and they most certainly wish for their voices to be heard!

| What if every child had the opportunity to experience a magical moment with horses such as the kids in the photo above ~ what might they learn? |
Our children today are in the place to learn and grasp the essence of the horse and they are waiting for this opportunity; now it is in our hands. For more information on our Vision at Voice For The Horse we invite you to contact us with any questions you may have.
